Purpose
Mendrya exists to help beginners repair their own clothes and learn basic sewing skills, using clear, accurate, practical instruction. This policy explains how we choose topics, how we handle accuracy and uncertainty, and how corrections work.
Audience
We write for readers with little or no prior sewing experience, primarily in the United States. We assume no existing vocabulary, no existing tools beyond what a beginner could reasonably buy for a few dollars, and no access to a sewing machine unless an article specifically covers one.
How We Choose Topics
Articles are chosen to build a coherent library of beginner-relevant sewing and repair topics rather than to chase search trends. We prioritize specific, common problems (a hole in a shirt, a loose button, a jammed sewing machine) over broad or vague topics, and we try not to publish two articles that answer essentially the same question.
Research and Accuracy
Articles are researched and written to reflect general, widely accepted sewing practice. Where a technique or recommendation genuinely varies — by fabric, garment construction, thread, needle, machine, or the severity of the damage — we try to explain that variation rather than present a single answer as universally correct. We do not invent measurements, techniques, safety claims, statistics, or sources.
We do not claim hands-on product testing, and we do not claim that articles are reviewed by a professional seamstress, tailor, or other credentialed expert, because that isn’t currently the case. If that changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it accurately.
No Fabricated Experience or Credentials
Mendrya does not invent personal anecdotes, professional credentials, years of experience, testing procedures, or expert reviewers. Content is credited to the Mendrya Editorial Team rather than to an invented individual persona, because that’s an accurate description of how the site is written and edited.
Corrections
If a reader points out an error — technical, factual, or otherwise — we review it and correct the article if the correction is warranted. There’s no fixed timeline, but corrections are treated as a priority over new content. You can report a possible error through our Contact page.
Content Updates
Articles may be revised after publication to improve accuracy, clarity, or completeness. We don’t add a publish date to articles as a ranking tactic, and we don’t backdate or falsely date content.
Internal Linking
Articles link to other Mendrya articles when doing so genuinely helps the reader take a useful next step — for example, a repair article linking to the stitch or tool it depends on. We don’t add internal links purely for search visibility.
Editorial Independence
Mendrya does not currently run advertising or participate in affiliate programs. If that changes in the future — for example, through display advertising — this policy and our Privacy Policy will be updated to disclose it clearly, and editorial recommendations will continue to be based on what’s genuinely useful for a beginner rather than on any commercial relationship.
